About Me

Welcome to The Cap Cafe!

My name is Vinh and I'm an operating room nurse. I started my career back in 2023 after freshly graduating from college.

When I first started this job, one of my biggest fears was simply speaking up and talking to people. As an introvert, I found it hard to even introduce myself to the surgeons at times.

Thus, as a way to combat that fear, I starting doodling on all of my doctors' gowns.

What began as little drawings meant to spark conversation here and there grew into something that helped lighten the mood during the early morning and long shifts.

This became my way of letting the team know I appreciated them.

It also, in turn, reminded me of how much I missed being creative.

Throwback to when I was still a nursing student, I had always thought about working on the floors.

Floor nursing had a culture of self-expression that had already been established. There was freedom to wear colorful scrubs, fun badge reels, and other accessories to reflect your personality.

The operating room, however, does not leave much room for that. Our attire is much more rigid and standardized.

But...one of the few things that actually allowed people to express themselves in the OR were scrub caps

So. I designed my own.
